Connect UPS to Wilph

UPS Developer credentials let Wilph read tracking and delivery status for your UPS shipments.

Roughly how long
About 15 minutes
Who can do it
Anyone with a ups.com account. A UPS account number is only needed for account-scoped reads.

Before you start

  • A ups.com login.
  • Your UPS account number, if you have one.

Step by step

  1. Create an app in the UPS Developer Portal

Sign in at developer.ups.com, open Apps, and add an app. UPS asks what you are building it for — tracking is the product to select.

  2. Copy the Client ID and Client Secret

UPS shows the client secret once, when the app is created. Copy it before leaving the page.

Lost it? UPS will issue a new secret, and the old one stops working immediately.

  3. Choose the right environment

Credentials made against the test environment only read test shipments. Pick Live in Wilph unless you are deliberately testing.

  4. Paste them into Wilph

In Wilph, open Dashboard → Integrations → UPS → Connect and save the Client ID and Client Secret.

What Wilph asks for

The exact fields on the connection form, in order.

  • Client ID

From the app you create in the UPS Developer Portal.

  • Client secretStored encrypted

Shown once when the app is created. UPS issues a new one if it is lost.

  • UPS account numberOptional

Only needed for account-scoped reads; tracking by number does not require it.

  • Environment

UPS issues separate credentials for its test environment.

The client secret is encrypted before storage; the client ID and account number are stored encrypted alongside it.

If something goes wrong

Requests are refused as unauthorised straight after saving.

A new UPS app can take a few minutes to become active. If it persists, check the app was created in the environment you selected in Wilph.

Tracking works for some parcels and not others.

Shipments sent on a different UPS account number are not visible to these credentials. Connect the account the parcels were actually billed to.
